Venue: Real Art Make Print at Ocean Studios

Description

A demonstration to align with Plymouth Art Clube exhibition ‘ Impressions of an Ocean City’

As part of Plymouth Art Clubs exhibition ‘Impressions of an Ocean City’ we invite you to view a painting demonstration by Mike Battley, where he will show you and explain his simple steps to successfully paint a landscape in watercolour.

He has chosen a complicated scene (Ham Brook at Weston Mill) to illustrate how you can overcome your fears by following his guide:

He will start by painting what is furthest away, then what is next closest, and continue in this way until finishing with what is closest in the scene.

He will use thin (watery) paint at the start, using thicker paint as the work progresses.

He will use his largest brush at the start and for as long as practicable (to eradicate any ‘fiddling’), and finish with his smallest brush for final details.
